The Window Box

The Window Box Gallery (62 W. Center St. in Provo) had a DawgArt show this week!  We had about 150 visitors, including some friends. ;)  The show will be up for another four weeks if you want to take a look.  There are about twenty paintings and they look amazing all together with the brilliant colors.

Ginny, Lish and Tyler were there to support me.  As always!

Sabrina came by with Devin.  I LOVE this girl. :)

Linda, the amazing watercolorist and oil painter came to visit.
I miss sitting next to her in watermedia.  Linda, you're the best. :)

Jerel Harwood of Grey Forest Studio hung out for a while.
I have awesome friends.

Jorge and Helen stopped by too.  Thanks guys!

Kari Larsen brought Gage over and hung out to talk about writing.
I'm excited to get to know her more!

The lovely Jan!  I adore her epic-sized abstract landscapes.
What a sweetie to visit my show!

Thanks also goes out to other people who made it to the show, but not into the pictures: Sean and Cate Hess, Denise and Eric Mutch.  Love you guys!

The Harvest Festival

So on September 23 and 24, I participated in The Harvest Festival at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, UT.  My booth was arranged by my instructor and mentor, Will Terry, and while I had a ton of homework to do that weekend that didn't get done, I don't regret participating.  It was very fun to paint and talk to people about the artwork.  I was just around the corner from Will Terry's booth, and across from three lovely face-painters, who I'm posing with below.

Kristen, Avery and Marie pose with me after painting my face.
Such cute girls!

Ginny visited, hung out for a while and helped with the booth.  Thanks Gin!

My comfy booth.  The weather was perfect!

Here's the painting I was working on.

My awesome booth.  I'll do it for sure next year too, if they want me. :)

Repartee Gallery

Bryun Lemon (the owner of Repartee Gallery) and me, posing with the new DawgArt display.  You can see the awesome Before And After book on the table.  This magical book shows the paintings alongside the reference photos I used to create them!  Bryun makes me laugh.  One of my visits to the gallery, he wore a fancy sequined sombrero the entire time and then once we were outside making arrangements (with cars driving by) for a permanent display he goes, "Oh, I forgot I had this on."  I should have taken a picture.

DawgArt, in the flesh!  (Not as exciting for me to see them in person, considering that I have stacks of paintings in my house, but fun for others who have only seen the paintings in digital images.)  It is a thrill to have them in a bona fide gallery though!

Thanks Bryun, Michael and Repartee!

Lady

Here is a painting I finished for Mother's Day.  This is my mom's cat, Lady.  She was killed by a dog in their neighborhood.  It was very sad to all of us and especially my mom that these irresponsible owners didn't take better care of their out-of-control pet.  The dog also mauled a postal worker in the neighborhood and was ultimately euthanized.  This painting is a memorial to Lady and a reminder to pet owners to take responsibility for the animals in their care.  A dog with this kind of problem isn't a happy dog.  We miss Lady.  To get a print of this painting, click here.

Repartee

Me and my show, still up.  They say it will hang until we feel like taking it down!

Check it out!  An actual gallery!

Funny thing is I'm not a cat person...

I wanted to take a picture of what I thought it would look like
from a child's point of view...

Here is the piece I worked on at the show.
Australian Cattle Dog ... almost finished.
But not quite.

2011 Gallery Show

The show was great!  I worked on a new piece, a painting of an Australian Cattle Dog.  We had drawings for free original art, print sales and about seventy-five visitors.  I was on my feet the whole night (even in my most comfortable shoes) and my feet were killing me by the end!

James Sullivan gets the prize for bringing the most people!
Christian McKay Heidicker gets the prize for coming the farthest to see the show!

Bridger Ballstaedt won the original piece, "Puppy Love", Amanda Dyck won the original piece, "It's A Ruff Life", and Nichole Ashton won the original piece, "Bone Appetit".

Me at the easel.  Sabrina liked the "look-at-me-I-am-an-artist" expression...

Gotta love cell phone self-portraits: Alicia and Sabrina!

Gearing up for the DawgArt Show

We hung the show on Saturday.  I think it looks great.  We already had about ten people come in to look while we were hanging.  Looks even better in person!  Three more days. :)

DawgArt Show!

The Repartee Gallery is planning a new show for DawgArt!

Where: Frameworks Gallery in the University Mall in Orem, Utah
When: Saturday, April 16th, 5-8pm

This will be a kid friendly show!  Frameworks is located in the corner of the University Mall near the playground, so your kids can play while you check out the art.  There will be food!  We will be offering pieces at different price points this year, with prints available for purchase.  There will also be drawings to win free Portrait Pals, original mini-paintings by Alicia!

I will be there with my easel and a work in progress.

Hope to see you there!
